Update

Howdy! So, it's been over a month since I last posted anything because I have had a TON of wadders in a row. Like 5 or so, including a knitting wadder (those are the worst!) I then decided to make a TNT pattern just to get some confidence back and while that has been finished for over 2 weeks, I haven't seemed able to get a picture of me in it. When the time changes next weekend I will be overjoyed to have some evening hours with my photographer! And all this week I've been spending my spare time at a hospital because my 81 year old father has a severe case of pneumonia/low blood pressure and I had to take him to the ER on Sunday. (They expect him to make a full recovery.) Whew! I have been looking forlornly at my half completed dress and longing to spend some time on it but just don't have any at the moment.

And since pictureless posts are slightly boring, here's a shot of me with Rachel and my dad last Thanksgiving. He rarely smiles for pictures and I think he looks so charming here.

  1. Best wishes for your Dad.

I can't take up knitting, because the possibility of a wadder after all that hard work would be too heart-breaking.

  5. That is a lovely photo. My mom had pneumonia a couple years ago and ended up the hospital too; hang in there!

I agree, knitting misfires are the worst. I just frogged two projects, both of which were about 80% done.

  9. So glad that your father is on the mend. Hope he continues to feel better.

Glad you're back, but sorry about the wadders. I've had that happen too. And it is usually just after a total success. Go figure. But knitting wadders have to be the total pits. So much time wasted.

  11. That is a beautiful picture. I hope your Dad gets well soon. I have had a knitting wadder before. I had totally completed each piece and the unrepariable mistake happened as I was trying to sew it together. It was so disappointing.

  12. What a lovely picture. I can see where you get your good looks. Glad he's doing better. Wadders are part of sewing just like when we buy clothes how many really become staples in our wardrobe. Hope your next project is a winner.

  15. Lovely photo! I like that you are all reaching out and enfolding each other into the middle of the shot. Here's a quick prayer for his recovery, and that you'll get back into a successful sewing "groove."

  16. Love the photo - I can see the resemblance, esp around the eyes. So glad that he will make a full recovery!

I must say that I dread the sewing wadder far more than the knitterly one because (provided there's no steeking) knit wadders can be ripped back to perfectly reusable yarn! Not so with fabric, once it's cut up, it's gone, gone, gone!

  17. Ah, your Dad looks like a nice man (I can see the family likeness between you).

I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.

And here's wishing you great sewing mojo!

  18. Get well soon to your dad! Hope he makes a fast recovery.

I hate knitting wadders too back when I used to knit. Knitting seems to take forever and to spend that long and not have something wearable is heartbreaking.

  19. I've also missed reading your blog. Too bad about the wadders but I know you have such high caliber sewing skills that nothing less than perfect will work for you.

Hope your Dad mends quickly so you can enjoy each other. Time with family is so precious!

  26. I was just thinking of writing a post on wearing make-up while sewing and I always think of you when that thought pops into my head.
In any case. I was thinking about you.

  27. Prayers and good wishes to your father for a speedy recovery. We lost our step-grandpa (98) last weekend and it is very hard on my 72 year old step-father. He's running a fever and just so sad. Parents are so precious.

  29. Awww, sorry to hear about your dad, but glad to read he is on the mend. The picture is adorable. I know what you mean about trying to get into a sewing groove. It seems I am struggling a bit myself, with inspiration. I did take advantage of Gorgeous Fabrics sale, so I think this will help. Take care, and looking forward to seeing your new project.

  31. I love that photo. He's so handsome. :) I hope he's feeling better and on the road to recovery now. I have been battling a "walking" pneumonia since the week after Christmas and it is rotten. Make sure he takes it easy for a while!
