I knew this would happen

Check out these beautiful creations from the October fall preview of Burda:

You may recall that I've let my subscription lapse after August. September didn't have anything I was too crazy over, but the October magazine I love. So here's my question - is there a way to buy just one magazine? Perhaps a website that will sell the single issues that you know of?

BTW - I have called all the Barnes and Noble stores in town and none of them carry it. Apparently they don't think there is a market for the magazine in my city. Any other suggestions?

  1. Barnes and Noble in my neighborhood carries single issues.

  2. I've purchased single copies on EBay too.

  3. Amanda, can you post a link to this preview, please? Yes, my B&N sells them too.

  4. I love all these patterns you have posted and I am eagerly awaiting this issue. I thought it was only me as the thread on PR for this issue seems quite negative . Or it did when I posted pictures the same ones you have chosen btw.

  5. You can buy single issues at http://www.fashionistafabrics.com
I am regretting letting my subscription drop, too. I let my drop a year ago.

  6. I was just about to say Fashionista Fabrics too! I've bought from her and she gets you the mag, right quick. These do look positively enticing!

  7. Great section. A vast improvement over the September issue. Thank you for the preview.

  8. Sheesh, you live in one of the largest cities in the US! B&N will special order for you if you go to your local store and ask them.

  9. In New Zealand I ring the distributors (in the 6/11 issue they are listed on p32 of the middle section) and they are happy to do a credit card order over the phone, hopefully the US distributors are as obliging!

  10. I'm too cheap to get a subscription, but have always wanted to buy a single issue or two, and have never been able to find where! I'd love to know, too!

  11. Did you call GLP News? They also sell single issues.

  12. Why don't you buy the patterns you like from the BurdaStyle website? This is what I do since my subscription lapsed. It takes a few weeks after the magazine is published to appear on the website.

  13. Ooh, great preview! Thanks!

I've bought a single issue from GLP News, like Cidell. Sometimes I see them on Ebay too.

I never judge an issue by the thread on PR, it's always negative, ha. :D

  14. Naaipatronen.nl sells them, I think the English version is Euro Sewing Patterns, cost is ok, ie shipping, if you buy a few magazines at a time. If you search ETSY you will usually find the current issue for sale. Most newsagents will order it in for you in Australia if you ask so I would imagine your bookshop would do the same. Good luck finding a copy.

  15. I haven't bought one before, but wow! Those patterns are beautiful. I may have to hunt one down myself. Thanks for the heads up!

  16. I have ordered many single issues from Fashionista Fabrics - it is great service! I actually just started a subscription, I hope in time for the October issue to come to my door, but if not I will be ordering a single issue of October for sure!

  18. Love your blog! Subscribe! I really loved the fashion in both the Aug and Sept Burdas. Don't hate the Germans just because they celebrate Oktoberfest;)

  19. You could also try Needle Nook fabrics, she does orders over the phone and sends things quickly. I know that she generally has two or three months of Burda in stock, and a select few older issues as well. Her blog is NeedleNookFab.blogspot.com (or something, that should get you there if you google it.)

Those are some nice looking patterns you chose, perhaps I'll be paying my own visit to Needle Nook. :-)

  20. I've called GLP, gave them my zip code, and they were very nice and gave me the addresses of 2 local suppliers. Burda is not carried in any big box bookstore in my area. I found them in a tiny German deli. :)

  21. I would go to: http://stores.magazinecafeny.com/StoreFront.bok

PS So sad that SA can't support a store that sells Burda!!

  22. I live in the Philippines, and having the magazine shipped here just costs too much so i was very happy when they started selling patterns for download.. If you can't get the magazine, you can buy the patterns individually after a couple of weeks on the German Burda site www.burdastyle.de. Some also show up on the US site http://www.burdastyle.com/ but it seems to take longer and I am not sure if they get all the patterns from the magazine. If you don't speak German, its a bit hard to navigate. Maybe I should post a tutorial...hmmm will have to work on that sometime! Good luck!

  23. I can send you the German issue if you don't mind the instructions in German. Or try ebay.

  24. I have also heard good things about Fashionista Fabrics for single issues, and was planning to try them for the October issue. I agree that there are some awesome garments in the preview!

  25. I've gotten single issues from sewbaby.com.
Isn't that just the way it goes?

  26. Hey if you can't get one - drop me a line - there are several places in LA that have them that I can get on and send to you! I do like that issue too - I bought last month's issue but haven't seen the current.

  27. There's a shop on etsy, Sew What Fabrics, that sells the latest couple of issues of Burda. (The reason I know this is that she's in Canada where I'm located.) As other people have mentioned, Fashionista Fabrics is probably a good bet as you'd pay less for shipping within the U.S. than from Canada to the U.S. I've ordered from both shops and Melody of Fashionista ships quickly.

  28. You don't have to subscribe for the whole year. I take the 3 month subscription that GLPNews offers and its around $25. I haven't received and issue since June, and I'm about to get another 3 months subscription because I LOVE the October issue.

  29. Aw wow, Burda have really stepped up their game recently - love the patterns you have listed. In the UK I can get single issues from newsstand.co.uk (altho that's no help to you sorry). I've been doing this instead of a subscription depending on whether I love this months patterns. x

  30. I know a local store that carried Burda a good price. The caveat is that is it's Spanish. If you can live with that, I could probably help you out.

  31. Don't feel bad about letting your subscription drop. In Malta we can buy Burda in newsagents and there have been so many dud issues this year, September was all folk - dirndls (like anyone needs a pattern for a dirndl...) teutonic folk at that. The one before was also hopeless.... There were maybe three ok issues this year. Good thing too - I hate when they're good, I have gotten spoilt with American patterns with their inbuilt seam allowance, and they're so easy to trace and size up or down too! this one I will have to buy tho :(...

  32. Try your local library. I am in Australia the library in my local area carries this magazine, very handy as a single copy costs around $16 here.
