March Burda picks

Here it is already the 2nd of March and I've yet to do my Burda picks for this month! Time is sure flying around here lately.

I was a bit underwhelmed by this months offerings. Bring back fitted and detailed garments, Burda. Pretty please? The only one I can see myself making is jacket 115 - which I do really love - so this issue isn't a total waste. Isn't it so pretty?!

In other sewing news, I have been busy making a dress since my last post a week and a half ago. It's really a simple design and I've had zero fit issues, but it has miles of handstitching. It will be super cute if ever I finish it, but I sure have sore fingers right now.

As it's been awhile since I posted a gratuitous baby picture, here you go. Rachel is 6 months old now and is just as tiny as ever (not that you can tell that from this picture.) Her hair has been plentiful and crazy ever since birth, and I finally decided to see if I could tame it:

  2. I felt just like you about this issue "Underwhelmed!" But that is a cute jacket you pointed out. Rachel is adorable! Fun to see pics of her.

  3. Ohhhhhh, she's just the cutest and I can't believe it's been 6 months already. I can't tell she's tiny but know what you mean. My Goddaughter (6 months younger then my own) is on the "petite" side. To me it just adds to the cute-ness. She really is precious! Oh, btw, the jacket is cute too:)

  5. Cuteness! Love the pigtails. I just got my very first niece two days ago and can't wait to get sewing some pink.

  7. Awwwww....thanks for the precious picture of Miss Rachel!!! She looks mighty cute in her little ponytails with the red bows....just like her Mom did. :-)

  8. She is so cute with those little red bows! Great photograph!

I also noticed this jacket. It's really pretty. I cannot think of anywhere I would wear it though. No family weddings or anything like that on the horizon.

  9. oh noes, I gave up my subscription to Burda and now you are showing a cute jacket. I wonder if I can buy it from the BurdaStyle site and download it.

Then again, maybe the slim pickings this month validate my decision to let the subscription lapse.

Your darling daughter is precious! One of my nieces was a very, very tiny baby, then toddler, etc. Today she is a gorgeous (no longer tiny) young woman.

    Love her bright eyes!

  12. That's such a sweet picture and what a pretty smile!

As one doing plenty of hand-stitching at the moment, I can fully relate to the sore fingers. The result of whatever you are making is going to be pretty special I'm sure so hope your fingers are better soon.

  13. I was also underwhelmed by March, though I loved that jacket. I am totally into Rachel's hair bows!

  14. She is so sweet!

I try to keep in mind that Burda is trying to please all of us. So the designs and full months which don't appeal to me, work for someone else. I fear that we are seeing the demise of all types of magazines and would particularly miss Burda.

  22. My March Burda hasn't arrived yet, it can't be far away, but I agree with you it's been slim pickings recently. The 115 jacket is really cute with the lace at the bottom, what a nice idea.
I got a Versatile Blog award from magdamagda the other day so I'm passing it on to you to thank you for your inspiration xx

  23. You're daughter is adorable! I wish that I had a little girl to sew for!

I had asked before (ref- twisted bubble skirt)about matching prints, and sewing formalwear; especially for weddings. I know that your really busy. The reason that I ask about matching prints is that they tell me at Jo-ann's that I don;t need to but that somehow doesn;t sound right. I don;t want to ruin my fabrics by finding out later that I should have. Thanks!

  27. I am a blog follower, so I don't understand how I am just seeing this post now.

Rachel is too cute for words. You have tamed her hair nicely...I'm gearing up for that challenge with Nilah as her straight hair has turned to Shirley Temple curls. lol

Can't wait to see you make this Burda jacket. It is gorgeous.
