So here you go, a boring old pencil skirt. I do like the colors in the fabric and am glad it was salvageable, but I'm bummed the skirt I wanted to make didn't turn out. Although I did learn two lessons from this experience. One - this view needs to be made with some stiffer fabric or perhaps a thinner fabric that is starched before sewn to prevent being stretched out. Two - skirts with 4 darts in the front and 4 in the back just don't fit my body very well. I'm too much of a square.
I have already worn this outfit (hence the wrinkles) and do think it's cute. I made the white top in these pictures as well. It really sees a lot of wear.
I added a full lining in flesh toned Bemberg.
I've received several comments lately about how unbelievable it is that I'm so productive. Well, that might have been true several years ago, but these days I'm lucky if I get 3 things done a month. And most of the stuff I'm making has been simple garments. But thanks! I'm glad you think I'm productive, because I feel the total opposite.Answers to more recent questions coming soon. Cute skirt. I love the color combination of that outfit. I am also impressed at your productivity. My goal this year is one finished garment a month, so you are way ahead of me. :)

I have a hard time wearing them, but have recently decided that if I am going to wear them, they need to be in pant or skirt form, away from my face. So needless to say, I love this skirt! and I love the deep purple cardigan with it. Glad you were able to salvage it! The whole outfit looks really good on you.

ReplyDeleteI am kind of glad you had to take the front panel off because that is a beautiful print and you wouldn't be able to see it as well with draped panel. It looks beautiful, you can't go wrong with another pencil skirt :)

ReplyDeleteIt's a pencil skirt but it certainly is not boring! That fabric is beautiful, I love the colours, and the fit is perfect. It may not be the skirt that you envisaged but it still looks stunning - your whole outfit has a real wow factor!

ReplyDeleteIt is soooo frustrating when items don't work out, especially simple ones. I just had an issue with a simple (I meant SUPER simple!) pair of knit shorts. Somehow I managed to stretch while hemming. Fortunately, they were too long anyway so I cut off the stretched hem, and redid it without stretching.
Fab outfit! The colors are really innovative together. As much as I always want skirts to be interesting, the classic plain ol' tube always works best for my body, too.
