This jacket is part of a dress suit from Vogue 2865, made in early 2006. I've always loved the jacket but never had anything to go with it other than the matching dress. I decided to make a little shell to go underneath so it could be worn with other separates. I've made this top before in a winter white and always liked the fit of it.Friday, January 1, 2010
Another Vogue 2925 shell - in burgandy
This jacket is part of a dress suit from Vogue 2865, made in early 2006. I've always loved the jacket but never had anything to go with it other than the matching dress. love, love, love that top! I may run out to buy the pattern this weekend while Vogue is on sale at JoAnns!
ReplyDeleteI like the finished edges on neck and armholes....was that pre-packaged bias, and do you find it allows enough stretch in those areas?
oh I love that top. I might have to get that pattern. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHi, Marsha, it in indeed prepackaged bias tape. I never use it in areas that really need to stretch very much. The neck is so wide on this that it stretched comfortably over my head, and the armholes aren't restrictive at all. I'm glad you like it! It is a very fun and easy little top.
ReplyDeleteThe shell goes perfectly with the jacket. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to continuing to follow your blog in 2010. Happy New Year.
A perfect top for your jacket.
ReplyDeleteA Happy New Year to you too!
A great little pattern. Perfect in that fabric.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great basic shell with some cute style details. I'll have to add that one to my list. Also, I don't think it looks too tight at all. Looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteMy blog-hopping led me here to your site tonight, and I just wanted to let you know that I've just spent a good half hour going back through your posts and looking at all the pretty things you've made. Definitely makes me want to find the time to sew more things for myself. Beautiful work! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI like this top with the jacket very much. If I may be frank, it works better than the dress which is too old for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great top. I love that it looks quite simple to make but the styling at the shoulders makes it much dressier than a plain t-shirt. I love your pretty fabric, the colour is beautiful. When looking for top patterns I always forget to look at those that are included with suit patterns. Seeing your top has made me want this pattern, it's not in the UK Vogue catalogue any more but I have hopes of tracking it down on e-bay.
ReplyDeleteLove the top!
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice little top. It's terrific as a stand-alone garment, or worn underneat a jacket. Nice sewing, as always!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty - I love the color. Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteI love this top Amanda . If only I was as slim as you I'd make this in a heartbeat. Happy New Year !
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Like how you paired it with a more conservative jacket. I think it'd easily work for going out, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color and such a cute top. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteYour top came out perfect! What a great pairing to your Vogue jacket!
ReplyDeleteLovely top! I still need to try it (glad I got the pattern before it went OOP).
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too! Great little top - love the sequins.
ReplyDeleteThe fit looks great and makes for a fab outfit with the jacket.
ReplyDeleteEyecatchingly pretty top!
ReplyDeleteSo super cute! I'm blown away by your jackets. I didn't know homemade jackets could look so great (I'm a newbie sewer). Awesome job!
