1314 Tracy Reese ruched knit dress
It's a long sleeved dress with ruching through the waist, a simple but flattering silhouette, and a great way to show off some interesting fabric.
1315 Rebecca Taylor knit dress
This dress has interesting pockets and a fun neckline finish. It's described as having a blouson bodice, but several inches are going to have to be added to the bottom of the bodice to achieve that look - especially on me since I've a long torso. The sleeves might be a bit short too.
1316 Rebecca Taylor colorblocked dress
What a striking dress! The fit through the torso looks a little wonky, but maybe that's just how she's standing. I'm thinking of using leather for one or two of the colors.
1317 Chado Ralph Rucci front tying dress
This is the first Chado Ralph Rucci design that I've liked in a long time. It's flirty and interesting but still very fitted, which really appeals to me. Plus there's miles of topstitching. My only concern is the giant tie in the front adding bulk right under the bust.
8825 Very Easy Vogue knit dress
This is the exact same fabric I used for my latest dress! All of you that tipped me off about that two days ago were spot on. This dress is cute and fitted. I like the front tucks and the wrap-around belt.
8829 Vogue Easy Options shirtdress
The example they have made up for this design is too shiney and dated for my liking, but this view is really fun. I also like the long sleeved collar version, maybe in the shorter length.
8833 Wrap blouse
Pretty and classic, this pattern includes a collar stand, which is my preferred way of attaching collar to bodice.
I am very impressed with this new fall line, especially all of the long sleeves being offered. Now what I've got to do is find more space for storing patterns before these hit the store!
How funny -- I instantly fell in love with the Rebecca Taylor, too. I wonder how hard it is -- love the style, but all those small pieces look like a pain in the butt.
ReplyDeleteThe vogue 8825 matches the fabric in your previous post. First thing I nocited. You do an amazing job. I took a break from sewing and am back in the saddle. I just need to get my machines in a better working order.
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed they didn't release any more vintage patterns, but I do like the Rebecca Taylor dress a lot, too!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notic that pretty shirt dress! Cute
ReplyDeleteI ordered the first pattern and also that dress pattern in the fabric you just used. I'm so jealous you had that fabric, I've been searching everywhere to see if I could find some somewhere. I was tempted by that wrap blouse pattern. I think I'll get it next time.
ReplyDeleteI have the same selection as you do EXCEPT for the RT knit dress because I don't like blouson+gathered waist.
ReplyDeleteBut I am planning on making that same view of the Easy Options dress. I actually bought the fabric last week, two coordination fabrics in reversed prints : red on white+ white on red and I cannot wait to get this pattern.
I'm in pattern heaven lately because Burda has greatly improved and Vogue is making me happy too!
That is so cool that your last dress fabric came from a Fabricmart bundle! It makes you wonder about the provenance of fabrics, doesn't it? I agree with your comments about fitting. And the choice of a shiny fabric for V8829 (or, well anything). That V1314 is going to look so great on you! And I really think you would be OK with that Rucci V1317 - you have the figure for it and the bow would look fine, really!
ReplyDeleteMe gusta mucho tu seleccion de vestidos.Me quedo con Vogue 8825 y 8829, me chiflan. Gracias por la informacion.

Those top 2 could be really cute with the right fabric and would be really easy to wear. And they look simple enough that maybe even i could tackle those 2 patterns! Can't wait to see you make the 1316 colorblocked dress. Leather for some of the pieces would be cool, and I'm sure you could perfect the fit of the top.
ReplyDeleteHI Amanda, this is a question about one of the dresses you made last year: Vogue 1252. I found it when I was searching for reviews of it. I bought the pattern and fabric last year but haven't made it. The question I have for you is about my fabric. The fabric I bought is a solid and I'm wondering if you think it's a bad idea and I should maybe go for a solid instead? I thought you might have an opinion since you've made it already. Anyway, any advice is welcome! jemgirlca@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me to take a look Amanda! I ordered a few new patterns during Vogue's 3 day sale :)
ReplyDeleteWhat I saw the Rebeca Taylor dress last week, I immediately thought of you!
ReplyDeleteThere are some really nice choices for fall.
Hello, I've been admiring your work for a few years and am wondering if you would ever consider doing an online class with a simple pattern to start. Even if you only posted once a week, it may be finished before the season ended :) I love the runching blue one you just finished and would love to 'watch' you at work. That way, many of us could learn your techniques. I would be happy to even pay for the privilege if it was reasonable. Can't afford a lot just now :)
ReplyDeleteThanks...Ruth
Jeanette,
ReplyDeleteI think Vogue 1252 would look fabulous in a solid color and would really show off all the interesting design elements. Good luck!
Amanda
rn,
ReplyDeleteMy life is too busy these days to do any type of sew along. Perhaps when my family grows up a bit I'll have more time for those types of things. Thanks for your comment.
Amanda
I have a red ITY jersey with black vertical flowers in my stash that has been begging to become a dress - I think that first Tracey Reese dress might be the big winner. It has already made it's way home with me during Joanns latest pattern sale. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Rebecca Taylor dress was way too low in the neckline and way too short in length ( I'm barely 5'5""). I made the sleeves 3/4 and can wear my"muslin" as a swimsuit coverup. I'll make it again, but with the modifications described.
