What a cute little wrap dress with fun notched collar, inverted darts and sleeve bands. The description says there's a lining which must be something like a slip.

I love the fitted shape of this dress and all the banding. The back neckline is just gorgeous. However, that is a whole lot of boobage in the front. Which I do not have a problem with on other people, but on me, well, let's just say it won't look the same. Perhaps I can figure out a way to alter the front neckline to cover the girls a little more and allow me to wear a push up.

I just adore all the pleating on this design and the fact that it's a pull-over dress. With pockets. The design is lost in that busy print they used, though, so I included the line drawing so you can see what's happening.

What do you think? Anyone else excited by these new offerings?

ReplyDeleteYou're right about the posing being a tad wierd. Vogue seem to be trying on 'avant guarde' for size with this collection. I'm not sure it fits quite as well as they were hoping!

ReplyDeleteAnd what is with the styling on Vogue, if they want to show off the lines and details, they continuously choose some of the worst fabrics possible. Very odd. I always have to look at the line drawings to see how a dress really looks. I like 1287, has a lot of potential.

The offerings are a bit formal-wear heavy and most don't fit my office-job lifestyle. *However*, I give Vogue a lot of credit for putting out really challenging, beautiful, fashion-forward pieces this season - I mean, that navy/white DKNY dress. It's just stunning. Those details! Keep collections like this coming Vogue! It's just what I expect and want from them.

ReplyDelete"Gasp!" That Bellville Sassoon! I have nowhere to wear it, but it is magnificent. Made a mermaid-hem halter dress with an integral bustline bow for my daughter's senior prom -- it had a boned corset incorporated into the bodice. Lovely dress. Herculean effort to sew. I like all of these except the black/white dress that you write has an odd front effect.

ReplyDeleteI ran right out to try and get 1287 while Joann's is having their 3.99 sale. Alas, they don't have the new patterns in yet... I had to settle for 1152 for the moment. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing about the poses and the fabric choices with this batch of Vogues. I kept looking over the line drawings to see what was going on with the clothing.
ReplyDeleteI like this batch a lot. I ADORE 1287! I can't wait to get my hands on that pattern! I was actually a little put off by the Bellville. It looks a little too 80s to me, but that could also be the styling.
I love the Bellville Sassoon but know that realistically I'd never sew it, let alone wear it. I also love the navy/white Donna Karen, but the same thing applies. I'm quite pleased really because Vogue patterns are very expensive in the UK and I really, really don't need more patterns.

ReplyDeleteI saw the new collection online last night and I almost thought it was Christmas Eve, because I had visions of V1296 dancing in my head. (Yeah, I am corny and happily claim to be.) ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour list of your favourites is a very inspiring one. I agree about the weird styling - the first one looks as though the model needs to urgently find the amenities. And I agree with the comments about Vogue using busing fabric designs which totally obscure their clever design lines.

ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about the poses! Overall, I love this collection. My only gripe is the lack of dresses with multiple cup sizes.
ReplyDeleteI saw the new Vogues this morning and thought, I can't even see the dresses. These models are brining it, thought. I had to look at the pencil drawings to get a sense of it - I like the new offerings - but I don't absolutely love it. I'm not sure the photos flatter the models. I'm going to have to take a bit of time and assess!
ReplyDeleteI see they're also copying Burda in having the models pose in the most garment-obscuring way possible, argh! But there are some good ones in this batch. Somehow I missed that Tracy Reese wrap, I'm going to have to put that on the list.
