I'm guessing she is going to be a petite one, too. A subscription to Ottobre has been a sanity saver -- their sizing is so much better than Simplicity et al, although I still have to "slenderize" even their "slim" patterns.

Sewing pants really can be fun! Ottobre also has wonderful things for boys that are actually stylish and fun to sew. A lot of the big four patterns run big. I would also recommend Children's Corner patterns when she is just a tiny bit bigger (6-12mo. plus) as they fit very well and true to size, plus I think you'd love the focus on beautiful technique.Sandihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04890008405738438915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3357280502639180937.post-67597519522151208662010-11-25T07:35:41.095-06:002010-11-25T07:35:41.095-06:00OOh! People are always shocked when they find out she's only 2 year old, they assume she's 4 or at least 3. Daddy is 6'4", though, so I'm not surprised.

Echoing the babylegs - I'm refashioning a bunch for my baby twin girls out of knee-high girls socks (Target). We live in MN, and one flimsy layer of pants fabric doesn't seem sufficient, esp when the pants legs get hiked up when the babies are carried.

How in the world do you have time to sew with 3 young 'uns? Those were still quite long on the babies (though the toddler of the family loves wearing them), so I then found that I could make them out of regular socks- and used ribbed ones, so they fit their skinny legs.

She loved them because it meant "pants" that fit- AND it made diaper changes easier.

And they are so easy to sew. With a girl you could even just cut the heel off and do a ruffle edge by overlocking the seam. For the boys I cut off the heel, and the toe, then fold the foot of the sock in half and sew that to the leg to make a cuff.Jessimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05442665425448000014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3357280502639180937.post-32248159998941951952010-11-24T06:55:13.837-06:002010-11-24T06:55:13.837-06:00My granddaughter Lucy is tiny like that. I always wished I would have had a petite baby so I could have he/she little longer, but they all grew right into the 95%+ percentile for both height and weight shortly after birth. Daddy is 6'3" so I guess that is why! I would highly recommend you checking out Ottobre magazine - ottobredesign dot com. They have such awesome patterns that fit so much better than anything else I've ever used. I have every issue but one and pretty much use only those for my kids when I sew for them (add a random KS in for good measure which is also really great with sizing). Happy sewing for your little sweetie. :-)Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16357944348284103102noreply@blogger.com
